Role of Greyspace: Project Manager
Overview of Project -
Stage 1 (concept proposal / invited competition - two submissions: Adam Norton, Cosmic Trip and Blueprint, both 2009):
- Research regarding the constraints of the 50m street front and restricted access to the window space available for the artwork;
- Research into approaches and installation methods feasible within the space, possible materials, and budget feasibility;
- Development of design drawings from site photos and artist's original artworks in close collaboration with artist on two separate concept proposals;
- Preparation of concept proposal presentation.
Stage 2 (development of proposal / shortlist of 4 - Adam Norton, Cosmic Trip, 2009):
- Detailed investigations into site preparation and the feasibility of particular materials, lighting and installation methods, including extensive testing;
- Liaison with potential suppliers and extensive discussions on site with those shortlisted;
- Liaison with Global Switch's Project Development Manager regarding power requirements, deliverability of the artwork and installation assumptions;
- Development of detailed documentation of the proposed artwork, including how it would interface with the detail of the existing architecture;
- Preparation of reports regarding estimated energy usage, environmental impact, and long-term maintenance provisions;
- Preparation of production schedule, finalised budget, all other information necessary for immediate execution, should the proposal be successful, and the material for the artist's presentation to the selection committee.
